The World Health Organization released last 2021 a deep and urgent report about how violence exerciced by partners or ex-partners affect women’s heallth. The report exhibits devastating figures, as a result of the largest study of the prevalence of violence against women and its effectts on their health status revealing outputs as never before, from 161 nations. Based on data from 2000 to 2018, it updates previous estimates released in 2013.

The study concludes thatt violence, in all its forms – can have an impact on a woman’s health and well-being throughout the rest of her life – even long after the violence may have ended. It also reveals how gender violence is associated with increased risk of injuries, depression, anxiety disorders, unplanned pregnancies, sexually-transmitted infections including HIV and many other health problems. Gender Violence has a massive impact on society as a whole and generates tremendous costs, impacting national budgets and overall development.
